How long does it take for me to get in to see a provider?
We make every effort to get our sickest patients and emergency patients in to see a provider as soon as possible. Toward that goal, we are able to get you in immediately or a same day appointment with one of our providers. If you are sick and willing to wait awhile, we will get you in to be seen somehow. If you call late in the day, we may have to make your appointment the following morning depending on how long the wait and the level of your illness. For all routine visits, we are able to offer you the next available office visit.
If I come earlier than my scheduled appointment time, can I get in to see the doctor earlier ?
We cannot guarantee you will get in any earlier simply because we see all scheduled patients first. However, we may occasionally have a cancellation or a no-show, which may allow the provider to work you in earlier than your scheduled time.
I’ve never been seen here before. Can I see a Doctor? How soon will it be before I can get an appointment?
We will first request some patient information and history from you, and then check with our provider’s schedule. Once you have been accepted as a new patient, we will schedule you at the first available appointment time with your new provider. If you have an acute problem (something that needs to be addressed that day), we will get you in with the first available provider, usually that same day, and then you can see your primary doctor at your next visit.
If I walk in, can I be seen?
Yes, however please understand that we see scheduled patients first. We will, however, work you in and get you seen if at all humanly possible..
Do I have to sign in every time I come in for an appointment?
Yes. By signing in, this alerts the front desk that you are here, and they will then start your check-in process. If you fail to sign in, we have no way of knowing that you are here for your appointment.
How long will I have to wait to see the doctor after signing in?
We do our absolute best to make sure you get in to see your provider at the time of your scheduled appointment. Occasionally, however, there are circumstances that may arise, such as a Complete Care Center patient emergency that may cause your provider to be running behind schedule. We will, however, make every effort to get you in as quickly as possible. We try to keep the entire office visit to 1 hour or less because it is our belief that health care should be convenient, easily accessible and prompt. If additional lab, x-rays or procedures are required it may be longer than 60 minutes from check in to check out. If you feel you have waited longer than necessary, please feel free to check with the front desk or nursing station. They will advise you of any complicating situations. You may wish to wait or reschedule, taking into consideration we would stabilize your emergency situation in your time of need. The whole purpose is to keep you out of the hospital emergency department.
Are all these poeple that are signed in ahead of me?
No – we have one sign in sheet for all providers and onsite testing. In most cases, most of those who are signed in ahead of you will be seeing a different provider, lab technician or one of our nursing staff for fasting blood draws, allergy shots, or x-rays.
What do I do if I need a refill on a medication I take every day?
Your provider will give you enough refills on your medication to last until your next appointment for a recheck. Some medications require lab tests before refills, so an office visit is necessary in order to refill this kind of medication. All you have to do is call our office a few days before you are out of medication (be sure to check your bottle to see if you have any additional refills available), and we will let you know if an appointment will be necessary. There is a $10.00 prescription fee for any medications refilled at times other than during an office visit.
What about a medication I only take occasionally?
Some medications you take only as needed can be refilled over the phone. Contact the office several days prior to when you will need a refill, and we will check with your provider to see if an appointment is necessary. There is a $10.00 prescription fee for any medications refilled at times other than during an office visit.
Can you just call me in a prescription on a new medical problem without an appointment?
We do not call in medication for new medical problems because we cannot get an accurate diagnosis over the phone. Call the office and we would be happy to make an appointment for you and work you in that same day.
How do I find out about my lab tests?
Most of the important critical lab tests are available at the time of your office visit. Other lab tests take 48 hours. Culture results require up to 5 days to obtain results. Either type of results always crosses the provider’s desk, is noted and cosigned as acknowledged. At that moment, all abnormal test results start a corrective action process initiated by the provider. The patient is always notified of next appropriate steps to take. If your tests are normal or do not require corrective action, due to the volume, you will not receive any corrective notification. You may request notification on any labs you are particularly interested in and we will gladly communicate this to you. This same process is followed with all outside testing i.e., nuclear, ultrasound, CT, MRI, mammograms, etc.
If I have to be admitted to the hospital, which one are your physicians affiliated with?
We admit to all 3 local hospitals - Genesys, McLaren, and Hurley, whichever is best for your medical problem or your preference. Every hospital is unique and is not necessarily the best in every medical venue. Due to the aggressiveness of our practice at Complete Care Center we found that aggressively managing patients in the hospital was humanly impossible. Therefore, we were the first in the area and others have followed in utilizing “hospitalists” to manage our admissions within the hospital. These “Hospitalists” are a specific small group at each hospital that we feel is the best at managing our sickest patients. They communicate with us frequently and update their plan of care. Further, being as we are independent (not owned by any hospital), we are able to admit and consult, (without any administrative interference or repercussions) to any other medical facility in or out of the state that would be most appropriate for your medical problem. We feel this is a huge benefit in the patient-doctor relationship that is being methodically eroded.
What is an N.P.?
NP stands for Nurse Practitioner. A nurse practitioner is a nurse that has acquired expert knowledge in a specialty, such as pediatrics, women’s health, family practice, etc. They obtain this knowledge by advanced education, such as a master’s degree program in nursing and clinical experience in their specialized area of study. We have two nurse practitioners at Complete Care Center, Cindy Davis and Lynn Zink.
Who do I call if I have a questions about my bill?
No – we have one sign in sheet for 3 providers, in most cases, most of those who are signed in ahead of you will be seeing a different provider or one of our nursing staff for fasting blood draws, allergy shots, or x-rays.
Can I walk in and pay my bill?
Yes, you most certainly can. Just come to the front desk and let them know what you need to do and they will direct you to the right place. You can also pay your bill online at www.completecarecenter.net or over the phone by using your credit card or check. Just call 810-695-8011 and ask for billing or the front desk.
Do You bill my insurance?
We will gladly bill any insurance. However, we may not be considered a “preferred provider” on your particular plan, which means your insurance may not pay the full amount or you have different deductibles. You can contact your insurance company (the number should be on the back of your card) to inquire about your specific benefits. However insurance companies are very evasive in not obligating themselves in paying for anything. They change their rules almost monthly. Therefore, please communicate with us and your insurance company to keep our surprises to a minimum.
Why do you make a copy of my insurance card at every visit?
We do not have to copy your insurance card at every visit. However, we do verify your coverage at every visit because it helps to eliminate billing problems later on. Many times, we may not have seen you in some time, and your insurance company or policy may have changed. You may not be aware that we do not have the correct insurance information on file. We do this with your best interest in mind because communication is key to a good patient – physician relationship. It frequently happens that patients are not aware of insurance company changes in benefits, deductibles and copays due to their employer’s new health policy changes.
Do I need to bring my old records with me when I come to my first appointment?
For the most part, old records are not necessary for the first visit, but they are good to have if you are a patient with a complicated medical history or condition. We also have patient information release forms which we use to obtain prior records and test results. Please check online or at registration.
How can I be sure of total patient confidentiality?
We take patient confidentiality very seriously at Complete Care Center. All of our employees are required to sign a patient confidentiality agreement regarding the care of your personal medical information. Because of our compliance with HIPAA, all of our employees at Complete Care Center are bound to comply with patient confidentiality laws. Further all of our medical vendors are required to sign and comply with a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement. We have a form that you sign at your first visit that states how we are allowed to disclose, or give out, your protected health information. The insurance companies and government agencies are constantly trying to allow “data mining” of your health information. We at Complete Care Center are constantly trying to protect and prevent that erosion process from happening.
