Podiatry is a branch of medicine that comprises the study, assessment, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disorders involving the foot, ankle, and structures of the leg. A podiatrist is a licensed physician who cares for your feet. This type of doctor has completed at least 4 years of medical school training and 3 additional years of residency training. A podiatrist may specialize in a number of disciplines, such as wound care, pediatrics, surgery, sports medicine, and diabetic care.
Acute or chronic injury or illness can result in bothersome or debilitating foot pain. One of the most common causes of foot pain is arthritis, which involves inflammation of the related joints. Additional conditions causing foot discomfort may include ingrown toenails, tendinitis, bone spurs, a broken toe, gout, plantar fasciitis, and diabetic neuropathy along with a host of other possible conditions. It is nearly impossible to assess the true cause of foot pain without a thorough evaluation from our podiatrist.
Again, an evaluation with the Complete Care Center podiatrist, Dr. Cliff Laliberte must occur before a personalized treatment plan can be devised. Some people wonder what’s the line between merely bothersome foot pain to that which requires medical attention. It may be advisable to try some home remedies at first, but you should see your podiatrist if:
Dr. Laliberte will perform a physical examination, observing your gait and the functioning of your feet and legs. The doctor will ask questions about your medical history, medications, and lifestyle. Dr. Laliberte may perform X-rays or get laboratory tests to learn more. Treatment may require a cast, shoe inserts, physical therapy, or even surgery.
We will gladly bill most insurance plans. However, we may not be considered a "preferred provider" on your particular plan, which means your insurance may not pay the full amount or you may have different deductibles. You are encouraged to contact your insurance company to inquire about your specific benefits. No Insurance? OR insurance we don't participate with? We can still see you! We have special reduced Time of Service (TOS) pricing for patients in this situation. A special Health Share Plan Membership product is also available. The membership is essentially creating a direct primary care relationship between you and your provider. Please visit www.healthshareplan.com or contact our office for more information.
